I have attached an invitation to a fund raiser for Suzanne Kosmas – Congresswoman from the district that stretches from Ormond Beach to Orlando.  She defeated Tom Feeney in the last election in a very difficult race much to the surprise of the Republicans.  Despite her conservative district and to her political peril she voted in favor of the Health Care Reform Bill.  I served with her in the Legislature and know her to be a person of high ethical standards.

Sarah Palin has pinpointed Suzanne as one of the districts the Republicans must take back.  They will be pouring money into that race.  It would be wonderful to have a large turnout for her fund raiser even though she does not represent our district.  Please come – contribute whatever you can. The invitation talks about some sizeable contributions but  I spoke with Suzanne yesterday and she said that every bit helps.  Invite as many friends as you wish.

'Voices of Honor' Tour Comes to Tallahassee, Florida

Thursday, April 29th at 7pm

The national 'Voices of Honor' Tour highlights the continuing use of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy to fire competent, fit, and highly-skilled Americans from the U.S. military solely because of their sexual orientation.

When:        Thursday, April 29th starting at 7pm

Where:       Tallahassee City Hall, Commission Chamber300 S. Adams Street Tallahassee, FL 32301

What:        'Ask Not' – Film screening explores how gay and straight veterans are turning to activism to challenge DADT

Featuring:  A panel comprised of both GLBT and straight veterans speaking on their experiences in the military and the impact of DADT.

Passed in 1993, the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' law allows gay, lesbian, and bisexual service personnel to serve in the armed forces as long as their sexual orientation is not publicly disclosed or discovered.  More than 13,500 men and women have been discharged from the military because of their sexual orientation, including more than 60 Arabic linguists and nearly 800 other service members in critical occupational fields.
