                Introduction of Senator Al Lawson

                    Q & A session


 

    The guest speaker, Senator Alfred "Al" Lawson, Jr., will discuss the 2009 session of the Florida Legislature in which he served as Democratic Minority Leader. Senator Lawson introduced a number of bills, several of which were related to the Florida Retirement System, homestead property taxation and exemptions, and home foreclosure actions. Senator Lawson co-introduced S2742, a Resolution entitled "Floridian of the Century/Governor LeRoy Collins," to honor the life and legacy of the late Governor Collins on the 100th anniversary of his birth.


 

    He has put his support behind HB1171, a bill that addresses property insurance issues and which presently is headed for the governor's signature.


 

    Following Senator Lawson's talk, the floor will be open for questions from the audience. Details and outcomes of Senator Lawson's legislative efforts can be seen on his website at: www.flsenate.gov.
